CRTO 2024: Steps to Red Teaming

Hi, I hope you’re all doing well. I am back with another certificate. This time, I pursued a red team certificate called Certified Red Team Operator (CRTO) by Zero Point Security. It was my one of the first step to get into red team, I had basic understanding in what red team was and I was waiting for the moment when I am comfortable enough to get into Red Teaming.

What is Red teaming?

Red teaming is like staging a full-scale security drill for organizations. It involves a team of cybersecurity experts, known as the “red team,” who play the role of hackers. They use the same methods and tricks that real attackers might use to break into a company’s systems, including command and control (C2) techniques and various tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). By conducting these simulations, they help organizations identify weaknesses in their security defenses and assess their security team’s response to simulated attacks. The idea is to learn from these simulations and make the organization’s defenses stronger and more effective.
